Launched in late March, Flexicar is the latest app-based transport solution to hit town, and it’s already transforming the way South Aussies move around.
New to the car sharing game? No problem. Here’s how Flexicar works, and why it could be the perfect solution for you.
How does Flexicar work?
Simply, is the answer.
Using the Flexicar app or the website, you can virtually reserve a range of vehicles by the hour or the day. Then, with your favourite digital device, book and unlock your vehicle.
That’s right. There’s no need or wait around in a queue to collect your car. It’s all done online.
7 Flexicar vehicles, ranging from SUVs to utes, are already available for SA drivers to access 24/7 from 4 locations across the Adelaide metro area. From 19 April, another 13 vehicles will come online, located at various CBD sites and at Flinders University. At the end of your trip, just return your Flexicar to the same spot you picked it up from.
As well as being convenient, Flexicar is easy on the pocket.
RAA members enjoy benefits including a 10% discount off standard rates and waiving of the Flexicar annual membership fee. The flat rate for RAA members, including the 10% discount, starts from $12.15 per hour with unlimited kilometres. Petrol, insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance are all included.
Here are 5 ways Flexicar could help you get from A to B.
How can Flexicar benefit me?
1. The regional escape
So much of South Australia’s beauty can be found in our regions, from the lapping shores of the Fleurieu Peninsula to the Adelaide Hills’ bountiful parks and gardens. If you’re looking to get away for a mini vacay, but don’t have your own wheels, Flexicar can help. Pick the car that suits you best, then hit the road knowing you’re covered by insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance.
2. The offsite meeting
Offsite meetings are all well and good if you and your clients are based in the CBD. But what about those of us who work from home, in the burbs? Enter, Flexicar. With sharing locations in Bowden, Glenelg and Tonsley, working suburbanites can zip to business meetings or even lunch breaks and back again, without waiting for public transport.
3. The date
As the age-old staying goes, first impressions count. On date night, ditch your rust bucket hatchback and pick up a Flexicar. With spacious SUVs and sleek sedans to pick from, your new wheels are bound to impress. When the date’s over, drop your (hopefully) soon-to-be significant other home, then deposit your Flexicar back at its sharing location. With Flexicar flat rates starting from just $12.15 per hour for RAA members, you’ll still have plenty left on your card to shout dinner.
4. The designated driver
If its your turn to be designated driver, but you don’t have a big enough car, Flexicar could be your answer. Treat multiple friends or family members to a day of wining and dining in a Flexicar SUV, while you – the sensible, sober one – drive on in comfort.
5. The hardware store haul
Planning a DIY gardening project or need to collect that pesky flat pack? Leave your precious coupe at home and hire a Flexicar ute by the hour. It’ll get the job done, no questions asked.
Of course, there are so many more ways you could benefit from Flexicar. From taking the kids to weekend sporting matches, to picking up interstate visitors from the airport, the possibilities are endless.
