The end of February is usually a frenzy in preparation for Mad March – South Australia’s busiest month. With so many epic upcoming events, it’s no surprise why.

1. Adelaide Fringe

When: 15 February–17 March

Where: All over SA

There’s a good chance this iconic SA event has been marked on your calendar for a while. Now, the time’s finally arrived when the city comes alive as the Adelaide Fringe officially kicks off. To celebrate the start of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest arts festival, we’ve got heaps of opportunities for RAA members to win tickets to an Adelaide Fringe show. Head to our exclusive member competitions portal for more info.

2. Dirt Wars Survivor

When: 16–17 February

Where: Loveday 4X4 Adventure Park, Barmera

Start the Dirt Wars Survivor challenge with a gruelling Saturday night obstacle course run in the Riverland. Then pitch a tent post-run at the local campground and get some rest – you’ll need it. The next day will have you climbing hills, crawling through tight tunnels and treading through Barmera bushland on a 9km course with more than 100 obstacles. Why would you put your body through that, you ask? To claim the title of the ultimate Dirt Wars Survivor, of course.

3. Dupang Festival

When: 22–24 February

Where: Ngarrindjeri Land, Coorong

Indigenous artists from around the world converge along the Coorong for a 3 day camping festival, sharing their culture and connection with the land through song and dance. Listen to stories around the campfire, witness a traditional indigenous ceremony or join a workshop to learn more about Aboriginal culture.

4. Bay Escape – Food, Wine & Lifestyle

When: 23 February

Where: Port Macdonnell, Limestone Coast

Forget the humble meat pie – get stuck into a lobster pie at seaside festival Bay Escape, in the coastal town of Port Macdonnell. Taste fresh seafood, sip wine from local producers, and browse beach stalls. Make sure you stick around for the famed octopus toss – that’s just one of the quirky competitions this festival has lined up.
