What does the start of 2020 have in store? No matter what’s on the cards, we’ve compiled a list of epic events that should appear in your diary this month.

1. Semaphore Summer Carnival

When: 9 January

Where: Semaphore Esplanade

From dodgem cars to sideshow alley games, Semaphore comes to life with bright lights and a range of fun activities on the foreshore at Semaphore Summer Carnival. Can’t make it on this date? The carnival runs until 27 January, so there are plenty of opportunities to head to the beach for some summer fun.

2. Sounds by the River

When: 11 January

Where: Mannum

Hear that? That’s the sound of a good time. Join a crowd of hundreds and head to the banks of the Murray for Sounds by the River – an outdoor music concert set among towering gum trees. Relax on a deck chair, or rock out on your feet to Killing Heidi, Hunters and Collectors and The Living End.

3. Cape Jaffa Seafood and Wine Festival

When: 12 January

Where: Cape Jaffa

Indulged in a stack of seafood over the festive season? Get ready for round 2 at Cape Jaffa Seafood and Wine Festival on the Limestone Coast. Taste the freshest seafood, sip on local wine and listen to fantastic live music. There’ll also be fun activities to keep the little ones entertained.

4. Summer Festival 2020 – Little Day Out: Splash!

When: 15 January

Where: Lockleys

Forget the beach. Cool down this summer with the ultimate water fight at Mellor Park in Lockleys. Come armed with a water pistol and prepare to get drenched during a range of fun water activities for children and children at heart. Just don’t forget to bring a change of clothes.

5. Santos Tour Down Under

When: 16–26 January

Where: All over SA

The world’s best cyclists take to the streets for the Santos Tour Down Under, racing through Adelaide’s suburbs and surrounding towns. But the fun doesn’t stop when the competition ends. Visit the Tour Village or head to one of many lively street parties for a bite to eat, a glass of local brew and fashion parades.
