Between the food coma and family get-togethers, we’re packing in as much fun as we can before we bid 2019 farewell. Here’s what’s coming up.
1. Carols Around The World
When: 20 December
Where: Adelaide CBD
Haven’t had enough fa-la-la-ing? Stray from tradition and belt out some tunes in another language. The Carols Around the World concert includes favourites like O Little Town of Bethlehem and Silent Night, plus songs you may not have heard before from Scandinavia, Canada and France.

2. Bay Sheffield
When: 26–28 December
Where: Glenelg
Feeling the bloat from that Christmas feast? This running event may inspire you to get off the couch. Watch sprinters from around the world lace up their shoes and compete in the iconic Bay Sheffield. Head to Glenelg to cheer on the athletes during the 3-day sports carnival, which has been running for more than 130 years.

3. New Year’s Eve
When: 31 December
Where: Glenelg and Brighton
Farewell 2019 at Glenelg or Brighton with fireworks along the foreshore. The night’s free entertainment starts at 6pm with fireworks displays at 9.30pm at both Glenelg and Brighton beaches.
Need a lift? Jump aboard RAA’s free Park and Ride shuttle service. All you need to do is park your car at Harbour Town shopping centre, jump aboard, and sit back while we drive you to the Bay. We’ll even take you back to your car at the end of the festivities. Just like last year, buses will run every 20 minutes between 5pm and 1am.
4. Family Fish Day
When: 4 January
Where: Streaky Bay
Consider yourself a fishing pro? Now’s your chance to prove it. Cast a line from Streaky Bay Jetty and cross your fingers for a decent catch. Family Fish Day awards the best angler for reeling in the heaviest fish. We can think of worse ways to spend the start of 2020.
5. Adelaide International
When: 12-18 January
Where: North Adelaide
Who needs Wimbledon when Adelaide has its very own tennis tournament? Head courtside to see current tennis starts and legends battle it out during the 2-day Adelaide International. Watch as they compete in preparation for the Australian Open – the first Grand Slam of the year.
